<p>Riverside Community College new central plant that will be serving two new buildings, which FA, Inc. also engineered. The original design was developed utilizing traditional CAD 2D drawings and the team developed a 3D model of the central plant to assist with the installation of the HVAC equipment.</p>

Fundament & Associates, Inc. made the strategic decision to become a leader in the BIM process in order to further enhance the integrated building design process. The key components in this profound decision quickly became evident and included substantial investment in hardware, extensive staff training, and reinventing and reengineering the project design process. These strategic investments have lead to the firm’s success and attainment of the skills and capabilities needed to produce fully coordinated designs using BIM.

Several successes have revealed themselves during this process. Fundament & Associates, Inc. has observed substantially enhanced collaboration internally and with other design and construction team members as well as the utilization of new and enhanced modeling tools for energy conservation, among many others. Today, over 90% of the firm’s work is produced using BIM technology.

Fundament & Associates, Inc. is proud to announce the recent completion of the construction document phase for the SJSU Student Union Project. F&A was the full service Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Engineers on this project designed with a full BIM model utilizing Revit and Navisworks. Construction on this project starts January 2011.
